You have to plan everything. You should set your goal and know what you want the end result to look like. You can buy a simple camera with manual mode or an expensive camera that tells you what it wants to do instead of you telling it what to do.
Knowledge of camera setting is important. Your camera shutter speed has to be at least 1/250 of a second. On the other hand, if the speed of the subject is very fast than the shutter speed of 1/500 is even better. If you would like to do a blur or want that your background is in motion then you need a tripod and a shutter speed of 1/15th of a second or slower.
You can move objects around your model because in that way they can concentrate on their pose and help you to get an amazing photo.
